Taste of Woodbury is a popular Woodbury Days event that attracts more than 30,000 people each year. “We ask local businesses and local restaurants to come and represent their food in the event,” says Kim Swanson, head of Taste of Woodbury.

As one of the fastest growing suburbs in Minnesota, the city of Woodbury has had to exercise a cautious—and seemingly effective—approach in planning for land use, infrastructure needs and other manifestations of growth.

 

When he finished his Division I soccer career at Creighton University in 2013, Woodbury native Brent Kallman didn’t receive any offers to play for Major League Soccer teams.

 

Woodbury’s Joe Thornton is a regular presence at the annual Bayfront Blues Festival, a weekend-long event that draws thousands of blues fans to the shores of Lake Superior every August.

 

This past school year marked the beginning of the 15% Innovation Portfolio (IP) program at New Life Academy. Students in grades 6-12 explored scientific learning of their choosing and had complete freedom to learn whatever they wanted.

 

The Woodbury Area Chamber of Commerce understands the importance of strong leaders in the community. That’s why the chamber is introducing a new leadership program, Tomorrow’s Leaders Today, that will begin this fall.

 

Community education is a department of South Washington County Schools, bringing a wide variety of programs and activities to the community. Check out the new adult/youth catalog of course offerings from community education at cecool.com. Here are a few samples of what’s planned:

 

CityPlace welcomed the new Sierra Trading Post in June, offering a new shopping opportunity in Woodbury.

 

St. Ambrose of Woodbury Catholic Community occupies a large parcel of land on the southeast corner of Woodbury Drive and Bailey Road. Completed in fall 2000, St. Ambrose was the first church in the archdiocese of St.

 

In September 1977, New Life Academy (NLA) opened its doors to the community, offering preschool through high school.

 

Woodbury Days has been a community favorite for the past 39 years. “It’s a three-day family-friendly community celebration,” Woodbury Days Council president Theresa Janechek says.

 

A fun and new way of learning has been introduced by South Washington County Schools Community Education. A school bus has been converted to a mobile classroom, or CE Skoolie.
